GIVING CHEERLEADERS A SPORTING CHANCE

Would you have guessed that cheerleading accounted for two-thirds of all catastrophic injuries experienced by high school and college female athletes  over the past 25 years? In the 25-year period studied, there were 103 fatal, disabling, or serious injuries reported among female high school athletes, the vast majority of which (67) were cheerleading-related. During the same period, there were 39 such injuries among female college athletes, with 26 due to cheerleading. As cheerleading’s gymnastic-type stunts become increasingly difficult, young female athletes must pay the same attention to flexibility and strength that any athlete would.  This entails incorporating chiropractic care into their training regimen as many Olympic-caliber and professional athletes have already done.

We are dedicated to the prevention and treatment of sports injuries in children and adolescents. Why suffer needlessly when safe and gentle chiropractic could put a smile back on your face. We’re located at 321 N. Burlington Ave., where we are specially trained and skilled in analyzing the spinal column to determine any type of problem. TILT!

If you have ever sat at a table with one leg that is shorter than the others, you know that the constant imbalance makes for a very unhappy meal. People, of course, have only two legs, but it is equally true that leg-length discrepancy can lead to serious problems. For some, symptoms can stretch from head to toe in the form of headaches, neck pain, recurring muscle pulls on the same side of the body, and tingling and numbness in the arms and legs. It should also be noted that a rotated pelvis or a flat arch in the foot can also make one leg seem to be shorter. These latter imbalances are referred to as “functional leg-length discrepancy.”

Examination by a chiropractor is recommended. It is our mission to provide life altering chiropractic care with passion and integrity so you may experience your incredible health potential. Please call HASTINGS FAMILY CHIROPRACTIC, P.C. at 402 463-1955 to schedule an appointment. We’re located at 321 N. Burlington Ave, where we will only accept you as a patient if we feel we can help you. It’s your future, be there healthy!

P.S. Actual leg-length discrepancy may be addressed with shoe inserts, but functional leg-length discrepancy requires that the underlying body imbalance be corrected by a chiropractor.
